ZS8T がやっとその気になってハム運用を始めた様子で、1月25日10:36-11:48Z と 15:24-17:11Z
の時間帯にパケクラのスポットが数多く上がっている。 オペのペトラスは 国際的な周波数帯を
知らないようで当初は 14,350kHz に、そして誰かに指摘されたのか 14,300kHz に移動している。
ZS8T Web ページの録音でオペの声が確認出来るので、その音声を覚えておけばコールサインを聞
かずとも、ZS8T かどうか見当が付くと思われる。

Thanks to David ZS1BCE we are able to provide three recordings of ZS8T, operating today
January 25, 2009.
Congratulations to LU6EK, SV9CVY and VK6DU.
We understand other contacts were made with Australia, Northern Ireland, Poland, Croatia,
South Africa, Israel, Portugal, Italy, USA and Malta to name a few.
If you hear or work Petrus and are able to record, drop in your MP3 recording for future
inclusion on site or even for nostalgia.

今月中旬に 14Mhz で若干の QSO があった、と云われているがパケクラのスポットにも現れていな
い。 1月20日のインタビューでオペのペトラスは「基本的に次の 2〜3ヶ月間 出来るだけ運用する
ようにトライする」との事。

ZS8 - Latest information posted on http://zs8t.net/ indicate that Petrus, ZS8T has renewed
his licence and "showed on 20 meters last weekend for a few QSOs". There is not any sound
information about his operating plans, but in an interview released on 20 January Petrus
said that "for the next two or three months I will basically try being on the air as much
as possible" (listen to the interview on the website).

下記の如く、チームの Webニュースによると、先週末にオペのペトラスが 14Mhz (SSB) で若干の
QSO をした。 残念ながら、今後の彼の運用計画については情報の持ち合せがないと。

本国チームの Rhy ZS6DXB から 8月21日付「Press Release #3」が届いたが、何時から運用を開始
するのか一向にハッキリしない様子。
文章の最後に Rhy が「We are as disappointed as you」と書いているが、全くその通りで本当に
「Petrus ZS8T はハム運用をやる気があるのか」と疑いたくなる。

2ヶ月振りに 7月08日付のチームニュースが届いたが・・
「我々は皆、Petrus ZS8T の運用を我慢強く待っている。 現在、運用開始時期を約束する立場に
いないが、直ぐに完全なレポート出来るように(指を交差して)願望している。 もう暫らく我慢を」
と。 1年間も島に滞在するので そう事を急がなくても、と云う事のようだが、それにしても当初
の計画から余りにも時間が経ち過ぎている。

Hi All
We are all patiently awaiting Petrus to activate ZS8T. We are not in the position to
promise any dates currently and are crossing fingers that we will be able to bring a
full report soon.
For the time beings guys please be patient as we all await the activation of ZS8T.

今日見た 5月11日付の本チームニュースによると；
過去 24時間にクラスターに ZS8T 運用のスポットが上がっている。 だが、インターネット電話回
線のトラブルで島からの情報不足となっており Petrus/ZS8T の確証が取れないでいる。 当面、バ
ンドに出現するのは偽の ZS8T と意識してほしい。
Petrus の声を知りたいのなら、Web ページの 3Y0E の録音を聞いてほしい。 彼からの全ての情報
は入り次第お知らせする。
又、[DX-CHAT] メーリングリストで、 ZS8T は CQ WPX CW に参加するのか？ との問いに対し ZS8T
情報提供者の Col MM0NDX は「彼はそのコンテストまでに運用を開始するだろうが、参加はしない
だろう」と。
同じ [DX-CHAT] メーリングリストで Dan N3OX は、「... but the website says this: "Petrus
plans to start construction of the antennas soon and will be QRV as ZS8T by the middle
of May."」と「5月中旬までに運用するだろう」と書いているが、私が見た限りでは、そのような記
述はなかった。

もうそろそろ運用開始のニュースが入っても良さそうな頃だと思っていたら、今日 ZS8T ニューズ
レター購読者(03月19日付記事参照) に対しＥメールが届いた. (チーム Webページにも掲載)。
本業の合間を見てのハムの準備なので時間が掛かるのは止むを得ないと見るべきで、今週にアンテ
ナを設置する予定で、5月09日までに運用を開始すると。
今回マリオン島で新しく衛星インターネット・システムが構築されたので、南アの ZS8T チームと
のデータや情報のやり取りが、ずっとスムーズになるはずだと. (勿論ログ検索も)。

Petrus is planning on starting construction of the antennas this week and will be QRV as
ZS8T by May 9th, 2008.
Petrus has also confirmed that the newly installed satellite internet system on Marion
Island is working beyond expectations to date, so correspondence between Petrus and the
ZS8T team are a lot easier than during the Bouvet Island 3Y0E operation.

調査船「Agulhas」は予定通り 5日間でマリオン島に到着した。 あとは機材の陸揚げ等を行いその
後の準備期間が結構掛かる様子。 This is why ZS8T's activity won't start earlier than
end of April と述べており、ZS8T はその運用が 4月末より早くなる事はないだろうと。
何れにしても、Petrus ZS6GCM がオペレートに上達して、スペアー時間に ばりばり SSB や CW を
こなして運用してほしいものです。

425 DX ニュースによると、マリオン島への到着後、運用開始まで 3、4週間掛かるだろうと。

ZS8 - Petrus, ZS6GCM left South Africa on 26 March, destination Marion Island [425DXN
881]. The "Agulhas" (South Africa's polar research vessel) is going straight to Marion,
which might be reached "in as short as five days" depending on weather and sea conditi-
ons. It will take about three to four weeks before Petrus hits the airwaves as ZS8T.

3月21日付で書かれていた通り、私共の予想よりかなり早く Petrus ZS6GCM は調査船「Agulhas」
号で、昨日ケープタウンを出港した。 気象状況にもよるが約 5日でマリオン島に到着予定。
上段枠内の「Agulhas 号の航跡」リンクで 3時間毎にプロットされるので船の位置が良く判る。
(例えばページ内の [Update] の前枠内に [10000] と入力すれば、過去 10,000 時間のデータが
判る。 但し、今回出港後の 3時間毎の Position は未だ表示されていない)。

今日の ZS8T ニュースによると、準備が着々と進んでおり、スポンサーからのアンテナや無線機
器類の全てが到着、ZS8T チームメンバー達(但し、ZS8T オペは ZS6GCM だけ)はそれ等の組み立
てテストを実施。 そして ZS6GCM のトレーニングをしている。 島への出発はあなた方が考えて
いるよりも早くなるかもと。
(面白いのは、南極洋への DXペディの足となっている南アフリカ南極調査観測船「Agulhas」号
(ZSAF) の行動で、今年だけでも南極大陸、南サンドウィッチ諸島、ブーベ島等へ行っており、
最近ではマリオン島を往復して 3月19日にケープタウンに帰港している)。

Petrus ZS6GCM がブーベ島で 3Y0E を運用している最中に、次の移動先として噂に上がっていた
マリオン島からの運用計画がハッキリしてきた。 その概要は上段をご覧に。
未だ初心者である Petrus ペトラスは、大規模なトレーニングを受けて、オールバンドの SSB /
CW / RTTY で来る 5月までに、マリオン島から向う 1年間運用する予定。
無線機、アンテナ類は寄贈を受けて満足出来るレベルのものでアンプは 3-500Z×1 の 1KW 出力。
QTH から見てもブーベ島よりは JA からは ずっと QSO し易いと思われる。 長丁場で焦点を絞り
にくいが、彼の運用傾向を見ながら追い求めるのが良いでしょう。

私の最初の ZS8 (Prince Edward & Marion Is.) との QSO は、ZS2MI で 1972年06月 20m SSB。
あと、1990、1993、1996、2004年等に QSO しているが、WARC パンド、ローバンドは皆無。

Following the fairy tale of 3Y0E Bouvet Island, Petrus Kritzinger ZS6GCM sets out to
yet another unique amateur radio venture that many DX'ers around the world can only
dream about.
Petrus will be QRV from Marion Island #6 on the DX Magazine 2007 Most Wanted List as
ZS8T. He is expected to be QRV by May 2008 dependent on work load.Building on the
success of the 3Y0E
Bouvet Island operation, Petrus wanted to take his amateur radio activity to the next
level.
Having more time to effectively plan the operation from Marion Island as ZS8T work began
to set a team together that could rise above the high standards that were set during
the 3Y0E Bouvet Island operation.

One of the first tasks was to start work on a website that could take DX’pedition
websites to a new standard. Chris DL6KAC, Col MM0NDX and Stan SQ8X really stood up to
the challenge and created an interactive website that will change the future of DX-

The second challenge was to obtain better radio gear that was used during 3Y0E.
Petrus ZS6GCM has also undergone extensive training and will be active on the following
bands 160, 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 12 and 10 meters. He will be active on the following
modes: SSB, CW and RTTY. A detailed timetable with frequencies and modes will be made
available closer to the QRV date. Petrus will also be communicating with Rhy ZS6DXB on
a regular basis, and you can expect regular updates with photos and even the possibility
of videos from the Island as the year progresses. ZS8T will be uploaded to LOTW on
completion of the operation.

ZS8, MARION ISLAND. Rhynhardt, ZS6DXB, 3Y0E Pilot station and Media Officer, announced
this past week that Petrus, ex-3Y0E but currently ZS6GCM/mm, will be a team leader for
a new scientific team going to Marion Island for one year. The arrangements for his
activity from ZS8 are in progress now. Rhynhardt states, "Currently we try to collect
some equipment for Petrus to make his activity more complete, delivering another most
wanted DXCC entity to you at high level." Look for a new ZS8 dedicated Web site to be
activate (it is now under construction).
Its Web address will be published soon and more news regarding any further activity of
Petrus will be announced right there.
