|
My TV program was on air in Japan on 28th of August in 2002.
The series of the program "Those who cherish Dreams" are made by an affiliated organization of
the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
My program is now can be seen at the web cite below. My number is 65.

The broadcast is only in Japanese.
A rough summary of the Program
Narration 1
Matsumoto's optical shop is located in the center of Tottori City in Japan.
The shop looks an ordinary one at a glance, but I wonder what's that looking like a Giant Binoculars?
Matsumoto
This is a binocular telescope I have invented for the astronomical use.
It was more than twenty years ago that I made the prototype for my first binocular telescope.
It is Lipershey rather than Galileo that invented the telescope. He was an eyeglass manufacturer in Holland.
The first telescope he invented was later called a Galileo type and offered an upright image; but it was soon replaced by
the Kepler which offers an inverted image. The reign of the Kepler type continues up today.
The reason is the Kepler type was optically far sperior to Galileo type in every aspect except for the inverted image.
Since then, the inverted image or the reversed image which is a result of attaching a diagonal prism or mirror has been commonly accepted by knowledgeable sky watchers.
But I had a question about that.
The non-upright image not only gives the wrong image, but also effects movement directions of the image when you
pan the telescope. Using an inverted or upside down imaged telescope and panning the telescope from left to right, the new target will get
into your sight from the opposite side of the apparent field of view.
A refractive telescope also requires very awkward contortions in watching the night sky.
I had sought the most simple way to offer the most affordable alternative and the correct image orientation at the same time.
I had at last found the most desirable way with my "EMS".
In my youth, I was absorbed in heavy gymnastics rather than watching stars. The gymnastics video was taken when I took part in the National Athletic Meet in Nagasaki Prefecture
in 1969.

Mr.Yamauchi who was a chief pilot of Shinkai6500(deep sea submarine) is an enthusiastic admirer of EMS-BINO.
Matsumoto (conclusion)
I think it important for us to have the attitude of questioning common knowledge.
Though it is not so easy to do in practice because questioning common knowledge means that we are becoming isolated, I believe it must be this attitude that has produced the seeds for many
inventors and their innovations.
